We are searching for data on the families who settled the town of D'Hanis,
Texas, in 1847, the last of four colonies founded by Henri Castro. These
families emigrated from Alsace (in modern France) and from Germany. Any
additional data we can find is appreciated, and we are happy to share what we
have. We invite inquires and comments from anyone who is interested in this.
We have listed genealogy reports on the families Finger, Rothe and
Nester. There is much overlap among these families. We have limited data on the
Carle family, and are trying to collect more.
We would also like to find data on the family of Andreas Dorsch from northern
Bavaria. His son, August, emigrated to the U.S.A. in the 1920s. Sons Josef and
Johanes remained in the Wurzburg and Bonn areas.

The Genealogy Report on Jean Finger, born 1630, is data as far back as we have
data. This includes the data on Francois Joseph Finger who emigrated with his
son Joseph to Texas in 1847. Francois Joseph is found in generation number 6 in
this report. This report traces the Finger family who remained in Alsace until
1970. (Updated March 8, 2001.)

adjoining cemeteries. Information is taken from the grave stones.
